Glory of the LORD – Covered Tent of Meeting

“It came about, however, when the congregation had assembled against Moses and Aaron, that they turned toward the tent of meeting, and behold, the cloud covered it and the glory of the LORD appeared.”

-Moses (Numbers 16:42)

Context

This happened on the next day after Korah and the 250 rebelled against Moses and Aaron. The congregation assembled and accused Moses and Aaron for the deaths the day before. God had an immediate response. Moses said to Aaron, “…for wrath has gone forth from the LORD, the plague has begun!” (Numbers 16:46)

Thoughts

I think the cloud is the glory of the LORD. God had allowed all the congregation to be eye witnesses to His Power and Presence, yet they persisted in rebelling against Him.

Just like the scripture from yesterday, I wonder why they thought rebelling against what God ordained would go well for them. If we cannot see a cloud with the glory of the LORD like the Israelites saw, is God’s Power and Presence still among us?
