About

So Glad You Stopped By!

Glory is the word I'm learning about this year. I invite you to read along and let me know your thoughts too!

When You Hear It

What do you think? How do you respond?

When You Hear It is inspired by a favorite scripture about David asking the LORD for direction and following through on His unmistakable answer. Simply put, ‘Listen for the LORD and Obey’.

“When David inquired of the LORD, He said, “You shall not go directly up; circle around behind them and come at them in front of the balsam trees. It shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then you shall act promptly, for then the LORD will have gone before you to strike the army of the Philistines”.

– God (2 Samuel 5:23-24)

Context

David was anointed king over Israel and the Philistines were not happy about it. Twice they came after David, and both times he inquired of the LORD what to do. Each answer was different, but both times David did what the LORD said and he was victorious.

Thoughts

I love the details in this instruction. God did supernatural things that could be heard and seen in the natural; striking the army Himself and signaling it by the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees! Do you think God does supernatural things today?

This is the same format you’ll find for each entry for the word Glory; the verse, who said it, the context, and my thoughts with a question. There will also be direct links to Blue Letter Bible if you’d like to read more or explore another translation in addition to the New American Standard Bible (NASB).
