Glory to God – Honour

Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, I implore you, give glory to the LORD, the God of Israel, and give praise to Him; and tell me now what you have done. Do not hide it from me.”

-Joshua (Joshua 7:19)

Context

God gave instructions about how to conquer the city of Jericho. Joshua made it clear to the people not to take anything for themselves after conquering Jericho.

After Jericho, they were not succeeding against any others. God spoke to Joshua and explained several reasons why, including that some things had been taken and kept from Jericho (Joshua 7:11). Then God explained how to find out who did this. It turns out that is was Achan from the tribe of Judah.

Thoughts

I think glory in this context is all about showing honour to God in the midst of Achan revealing his sin. Achan succeeded in hiding the items from the people, but God knew all along. Do yo have any situations like this? If yes, what is your next step?
