Glory of the LORD – On Mount Sinai

“The glory of the LORD rested on Mount Sinai,

and the cloud covered it for six days;

and on the seventh day He called to Moses from the midst of the cloud”.

-Moses (Exodus 24:16)

 

Context

Moses was called up to the LORD on the mountain to receive the stone tablets with the law and the commandments that the LORD wrote for their instruction. We don’t know how long the journey was up the mountain, but it’s interesting that the LORD didn’t speak until day 7.

 

Thoughts

This is not the first time that the people have seen the glory of the LORD in a cloud, earlier in Exodus 16:10 it says they looked toward the wilderness. It seems the cloud appeared in places where everyone could see the glory of the LORD.
