Glory to God – Honour (2)

“So you shall make likenesses of your tumors and likenesses of your mice that ravage the land, and you shall give glory to the God of Israel; perhaps He will ease His hand from you, your gods, and your land.”

-The priests and the diviners (1 Samuel 6:5)

Context

The Philistines kept the ark of the LORD for seven months after defeating Israel who was camped beside Ebenezer. The ark was not theirs to take, so God sent a plague on them in each of the three cities they sent the ark to; Asdod, Gath, and Ekron. The Philistines knew they had to return the ark to Israel to stop the plague and were told to also send a guilt offering.

Thoughts

I think this glory is honour or reverence. God dealt harshly with the Philistines for going too far in their defeat of Israel and humbled them. They sent the ark to three cities before deciding we better give it back. Has there ever been a time that God has shown you more than once that something needs to be set right? If yes, what did you do?
