Glory of Israel – God

“Also the Glory of Israel will not lie or change His mind; for He is not a man that He should change His mind.”

– Samuel (1 Samuel 15:29)

Context

Saul was king over Israel and God had commanded him to completely destroy Amalek, because of what he did to Israel. Saul did not completely destroy because he “feared the people and listened to their voices” (1 Samuel 15:24). Samuel had just told Saul that because of his disobedience, God was removing him as king over Israel and that God, the Glory of Israel, will not change His mind.

Saul confessed his sin and turned to the LORD in worship (1 Samuel 15:31).

Thoughts

The consequences are not good for Saul, but we are allowed to see in this verse that God makes decisions and stands by them. To me this is trust. Do you think we can trust God today? Why or why not?
